Happy Holidays 2014, and Looking Ahead to 2015

We can’t say enough about how grateful we are for each and every one of you. It’s your families, your events and your smiles that make each day here at Miroslavich Photography unique and special.

One of those special days was working with Olivia, who was one of our favorites during 2014. She was charming, graceful and a joy to work with during this past year. We are so happy with how the session turned out, and wanted to share with all of you how proud we are of her, as well as the final portraits.

Again, thank you so much for a fantastic and successful 2014. We are especially beholden to each and every one of you for allowing us into personal moments of your own lives, and can’t wait to meet new friends and create exciting memories throughout 2015. We’ll be back in January with new content and features, so have an amazing, safe holiday and happy new year!

To Friends and Family

Dear Friends and Family,
During this time of year, we are surrounded by family and loved ones. It’s a time when the smell of warm cookies permeates through the home, relationships are rekindled and new memories are created. And every year, there never seems to be enough time.

Here at Miroslavich Photography, we understand the importance of being with family and creating those special moments. We work diligently year-round to provide a warm, inviting atmosphere so we can capture the honest nature of all personalities we work with each and every day. So, for a limited time, we are pleased to offer any size of our gift portraits for a holiday special of $80 if ordered by 12 p.m. on December 9. Additionally, we are also offering gift certificates through December 18 that can make for a great stocking stuffer.

So join us this holiday season, and let’s work together to create amazing memories that will last forever. Let’s celebrate the everyday, today.

We love Jolie's portrait, but it isn't easy to capture that magical moment! She provided us with some fun, candid moments we wanted to share with you all. Check out the below blooper reel, and enjoy!

Our Thanksgiving Family

In honor of families spending their time with us at Miroslavich Photography throughout the year, we wanted to share a special post regarding one of our favorite families.

This past September we had the privilege to spend time with Sherry and Charles, as well as their children Ben, Brock and Brooke. Even Sasha, the chocolate lab joined us! The family wanted a classic look and feel to their portraits, and our goal was to capture the family with a timeless appeal, before the kids began their personal journeys in pursuit of their dreams.

We think the final portraits highlight the family’s fun, engaging personalities as well as the obvious love for one another. And just in time for the holiday season, the family has their portrait hanging in the entry way to their home for everyone to see.

It was a pleasure spending our time getting to know each member of the family, and we are thankful for each opportunity provided to us every day by all families and friends of Miroslavich Photography. Have a happy holiday season!

Thanks & Giving 2014

Thanksgiving First!

Open your heart to someone this holiday season - and thank you for giving us the opportunity to open ours! We are so grateful for the opportunity to continue to have the business of creating such joy in the lives we touch.Thanksgiving 2014 may be later in November this year, but we love to honor this holiday by pausing to appreciate its significance.

Our Thanks & Giving event started in 2009 with the purpose of giving the joy of photography to a local family. A family who truly would appreciate the gift of portraits for their home. Over the past five years, we have been humbled by the recipients of this gift. We have created lasting memories for each family we are honored to meet each year. We are always amazed by each family's strength, and incredibly grateful for the thoughtfulness of the people who nominate them.

This holiday season we are giving you the opportunity to give once again. If you are a client or friend, please join us by nominating a family that would love to have photography created especially for them. You know someone who's having a tough time and needs a little lift, experienced sadness, struggling to stay afloat, raising kids while holding down more than one job, has someone in their family that is quite ill or someone who is volunteering selflessly despite extenuating personal circumstances. You know someone who would cherish portraits of their loved ones this holiday season. You know someone who deserves a lifetime reminder of their family's spirit, love and beauty.

We know you know someone to nominate. We want to know who they are, and want to give them the chance to experience complimentary custom photography. $1500 worth to be exact. Whether it's a beautiful canvas, or an art book or multiple wall portraits, what better reason to show some love could there possibly be?

The Rules:
- You cannot nominate yourself.
- The nominee must be able to come to Woodbury for a weekday studio or location session.

Submission Details:
- Who are they?
- What are they experiencing?
- Why do they deserve the gift of photography?

Please Include:
- A way to contact yourself and the nominee
- Please put "Thanksgiving Giveaway" in the email subject line
- Please email the story to info@miroslavichphotography.com

Submission deadline: Wednesday, November 26, 2014 at 12 p.m.

The winner will be contacted in time to celebrate Thanksgiving, so get nominating! We are blessed to give another family an amazing, beautiful experience, and start to the holiday season!

Growing up fast!

Look at these cuties!  It does not seem possible that we have been photographing this family since Brennan was a wee baby almost 8 years ago.  We have watched them grow and develop sweet personalities over the years.  It is so heartwarming to us to see their relationships as siblings blossom and grow.  We can't wait to see what the future holds for them!

Congratulations, Melissa!!

Melissa was recently named a Silver Medalist during Professional Photographers of America 2014 International Photographic Competition.  Melissa’s work will be on display at the Gaylord Opryland in Nashville, Tennessee, February 1-3, 2015.  This International Photographic Exhibition is held in conjunction with Imaging USA, an annual convention and expo for professional photographers and several photographic associations.

A panel of 45 eminent jurors form across the United States selected the top photographs from nearly 5,000 total submitted entries.  Judged against a standard of excellence, just over 1,800 images were selected for the General Collection and 918 (roughly 18%) were selected for the esteemed Loan Collection—the best of the best.  The Loan Collection images will be published in the much-anticipated “Loan Collection” book and over 200 selected General Collection images will be published in the “Showcase” book by Marathon Press.

The level of the award is determined by how many of those four images receive the highest possible honor: acceptance into the PPA Loan Collection, which is displayed at photographic exhibitions, conventions, and other photography events.  Miroslavich was named a Silver Medalist, meaning that one of her four merited images entered the PPA Loan Collection.  In 2014, she was named one of only 104 Silver Medalists.

About PPA:

Professional Photographers of America (PPA) is the largest international non-profit association created by professional photographers, for professional photographers.  Almost as long-lived as photography itself, PPA has roots that date back to 1869.  It assists more than 27,000 members through protection, education and resources for their continued success.  See how PPA helps photographers be more at ppa.com.

Kaitlin--Class of 2015

Kaitlin's portrait session was a special one not only because she's a lovely young woman but because Kaitlin's Mom, Kyla, is Melissa's dear friend from college.  We had a great time photographing Kaitlin indoors and out--she was so sweet and easy to work with and afterwards Melissa and Kyla got a chance to catch up with one another.  We're so glad they made the trip from Rochester!  It was a wonderful day all the way around.

Sisterly Fun

What could be more fun than a portrait session on a beautiful summer day with two darling sisters!  Maren and Kylie are old friends of ours and it's always been fun to capture images of them as they grow.  This time we even caught Kylie without a couple of teeth!  Their pretty blue dresses and the vivid green fields perfectly capture the spirit of Summer and their playful and sweet personalities perfectly capture the spirit of Sisterhood.

A Walk in the Park

This lovely family came to us through the Royal Oaks Elementary School Silent Auction.  We created their portraits in the park on a beautiful Summer day and totally enjoyed the session.  Jack and Sidney are such a sweet brother and sister, and we think these images really capture the love and fun in this family!

Coltrane and his gang

We've been creating portraits for this cute family for, well, forever and it's been so much fun to see the kids grow and change.  Even their sweet dog Coltrane got in on the fun! In this session we did both colorful outdoor images and lovely indoor images. They have a beautiful stone fireplace and the colors in the indoor portraits coordinated with their room perfectly.  The kids' Mom, Jana, loved the portrait above her fireplace and was nice enough to send us a snapshot of it in its new "home"and we think the final result is perfect!
