Congratulations to Mike Wallus!

We have know "Mr Wallus" for many years as he taught all of my kiddos when they were in kindergarten/1st grade.  He was definitely a favorite teacher!  Last year we were asked by Mike to photograph executive headshots of him.  We were pleased to do so!  In late December, the White house Press Office released an announcement naming Mike as the 2012 National Winner for Elementary Math Teaching in MN for the Presidential Award of Excellence in Mathematics and Sciene Teaching (PAEMST)!! Recipients are also invited to Washington, DC, for an awards ceremony and several days of educational and celebratory events, including visits with members of Congress and the Administration.
WOW!!  Congratulations "Mr Wallus"on such an accomplishment and honor!  It was an honor for us to create headshots to be used for such a special occasion!

IHeart Organizing -THE BLOG!

We really do *heart* organizing but this blog post is also in reference to a new client of ours we were fortunate enough to meet this past summer!  Jennifer Jones is the brains, the beauty, the talent, the blogger and the heart behind the blog-IHeart Organizing - http://iheartorganizing.blogspot.com in addition to having a hubby and three cutie boys at home!
Jen came to us for new, creative, fun headshots that reflected her style and passion for blogging and all things organized!  We were up for the task!  Jen came to the studio with plenty of super fun props and accessories- including her hubby, Bryan who is often involved in her projects featured on her blog.  So, of course, we had Bryan become a part of the fun!
Check out Jen's blog for some great inspiration from her project gallery, DIY tips, customized printables (her calendar is to die for!)  and you might just find yourself becoming as passionate about organizing as Jen is!

A lot of love for Teal and Lime!

We heart Jackie, creator and owner of Teal & Lime and all of her creativity!!  We first met Jackie in early 2010 while she was pregnant with their second baby. Jackie, Jose and little Jose came to the studio for a maternity session and the rest is history!  Since then, we have followed their family as Baby Jax was born, learned to walk, talk and chase his big brother around!  Little Jose is now a big kindergartener who also plays tee ball!  And now, we love to follow Jackie's blog, Teal & Lime, and all of her fantastic home decorating ideas!  So when she asked us to create headshots of her for her blog, we were uber-excited!! If you haven't been on the blog, you can follow it here:

Here is how Jackie describes creating Teal & Lime:

"I started Teal & Lime in June 2011 as a creative outlet to share the projects I was already doing in our home. The dialogue of Teal & Lime had been playing in my head through all those projects, and I finally put into print. It is a journal of making a house our home. When I started Teal & Lime, I was still working in a confining cubicle for a large corporation…it zapped the life right out of me. I broke free at the end of 2012 to spend more time with my family and to grow Teal & Lime. I feel alive again! I get to spend lots of time with my two little boys before and after school. I get to work from my beautiful home in a light-filled, color-filled office. All the while, I continue on the journey of making my house a home and making it ours. I have been blessed to help others do the same in their homes."

Miroslavich Photography was fortunate enough to be featured on Teal & Lime earlier this year in Jackie's Be Inspired series:

We are constantly amazed and inspired by Jackie's flair and talent for home decorating and her passion for DIY.  It was incredibly flattering to be featured on her blog and we are so grateful that this family is a part of Miroslavich Photography's life!  We can't wait to see what the future holds for Teal & Lime- we know it was be fabulous!!!

Dog vs Cat - Who gets your vote?

This past summer, we were honored to be asked by the Animal Humane Society to photograph their Fall Campaign-which, of course, had an "election" spin because of the upcoming presidential elections this November.  "Vote to Adopt" Campaign was very well received and it was exciting for us to see it on local billboards, city buses and in magazines.  We had a blast photographing it-and coming up with "presidential" props and settings.  So, if you had to vote....Dog or Cat?  We want to know!!

Woodbury Dental photo session

We were very pleased to partner with Woodbury Dental recently to photograph one of their clients, John, after he received his permanent crowns. John was in an accident (see the photo in the advertisement) that involved his two front teeth-how awful! He immediately saw Dr Edlund at Woodbury Dental who was able to "re-create" John's beautiful smile with these permanent crowns. And what a handsome smile he has!! Our image of John with his new smile was recently featured in an ad in the Woodbury magazine-we were excited and thrilled to be able to work with Woodbury Dental! We look forward to more photo sessions in the future!

Elizabeth Verdick - Children's Author extraordinaire!!!

It was a thrill for us to meet Elizabeth Verdick and her adorable Bichon Frise, Sunny, to create these stunning headshots for her. Elizabeth is a local award-winning children's book writer of many children's book such as "Teeth are Not for Biting" and "Words are Not for Hurting" - a part of the Best Behaviors series. "Naptime" , part of the Toddler Tools series is an excellent choice for those of us who have little ones struggling with those times -
"Naps are just a little break—but when it’s naptime, many toddlers have trouble settling into sleep. This calming, encouraging book helps young children quiet down so they can get the rest they need. Eyes are closed, lights are dimmed…and (yawn, s-t-r-e-t-c-h) before little ones know it, it’s time to wake up. Cozy illustrations enhance the text."

We had a blast in the studio with Elizabeth and Sunny! (I think Sunny thought the headshots were for him!) We get to meet the best people!

Be sure to check out Elizabeth's books next time you are at the bookstore or check them out online at: http://www.amazon.com/Elizabeth-Verdick/e/B001JS1HGS
As soon as Elizabeth's website is up and running, we will post it here! Enjoy!

Another business to watch!!!

We first met Susan when she and her daughter, Kate (a budding 10 year old photographer!) brought their family dog, Daisy, into the studio to be photographed last year. We instantly loved meeting them and have so enjoyed getting to know them better over the past year. Following Daisy's photo session, Susan asked us to photograph some executive headshots of her for her new book and website. You have to check out the website: www.leadhership1.com .

To quote her website, "Susan Davis-Ali, PhD, is a successful business executive, wife and mother. She is the founder and President of Leadhership 1, a professional coaching company commited to helping working women achieve success and sanity in their lives". Susan's new book is now available, titled "How to Become Successful Without Becoming a Man". How great is that title?!?

We cannot wait til Oprah discovers Susan and has her on the show!! It's only a matter of time.....

Businesses to watch!

As some of you may know, Miroslavich Photography is fortunate enough to have the opportunity to work with some really great local businesses. Either it is a business we partner with for our displays or maybe the business has contacted us to create super-cool executive headshots for their website or business cards. In any case, we thought it would be interesting to feature a business on the blog on a regular basis to share with you these great people!

After 20 years of working in the educational multimedia field, Beth decided to start her own company. She wanted to “make a difference” so she decided to focus on developing products for non-profit and mission-driven organizations. The idea is to develop a product that they can sell to further their mission and generate additional revenue. Her first product is a training product for schools on character education. It will help students to develop their full potential, improve their relationships at school and at home, minimize bullying, and so much more.

Check out Beth's website: http://www.makingadifferencemedia.com/

We loved creating these images for Beth...and she loved them so much she brought her whole family back later that month for a family session. You may remember their images when they were featured on the blog in November?

Best of luck, Beth!
