New Year, New Families!

Every year we are fortunate to meet new families who come to us to capture their family portrait.  We were delighted to meet this family and get to know them this year!  Creating a stunning family portraits for their home was an honor for us!  We know they will cherish them for a long time! And we hope to see them again over the years to come....

Brandon - Class of 2014

Brandon came to us early this fall for senior portraits- we love his energy and enthusiasm for life!!  We had fun playing his music during the session, hearing some guitar solos and getting Brandon to show us his goofy side (see one of the images above!!)  We are sure Brandon is rockin' his senior year!! And we can't wait to hear where he ends up next year! Good luck, Brandon!!

Sisterly love!

When we look back at last fall, it seems like it was the season of sisters!!  We met many new sisters and saw some of our long time sister friends as well!  There is something special about these relationships-sweet and silly, loving and caring.  And these two sisters certainly have those characteristics.  Leah and Sophie are 6 and 4 and lit up our studio when they came in a few months ago.  Their giggles and stories kept us wishing that every morning started that way!  We know the portraits we created for their home will provide many years of pleasure happiness and pleasure. 

Connor - Class of 2013

Connor is another one of our great high school seniors who we photographed late this past summer!  We have been photographing Connor's family for the past couple of years so it was great to already have that relationship with him when it came time for his senior session! Connor is an easy going and fun senior who put up with Melissa and I and all of our dorkiness-not to mention he was happy to go to the various locations we planned out for him.  He didn't even seem to mind the snake we encountered at one location spot!!   Good luck with your senior year, Connor!!  And we can't wait to photograph little sister Olivia in a few short years for her senior session!!

ZOOM Camp registrations

We are still accepting registrations for our upcoming ZOOM Photography Camp for kids! We are excited that we have new campers signed up and ready to get started!! So far we have both boys and girls registered which is awesome to have a good mix! We still have a few spots open and would love for more kids to join in on the fun! Here are the details: When: June 11-14, 2012-9:30am-12:30pm Where: Miroslavich Photography Studio in downtown Saint Paul and Saint Paul locations within walking distance from the studio. We will be creating a portfolio of images that will be displayed at the ZOOM Art Show by camp artists on Wednesday June 20 from 6pm-7:30pm. Images will demonstrate knowledge gained of basic composition, camera controls, location shooting and portraiture. Each camper must bring a digital camera (SLR preferred). 13th Birthday blast!

There are many times when Melissa and I wish we were 13 again, and this party definitely made us envious that we aren't! Kate (who you may recognize as one of our ZOOM camp graduates from a few years back!) turned 13 and her parents wanted to throw her a party to remember that would mean a lot to her. Given Kate's love and talent for photography, Kate's mom asked if we would help her organize a party combining Kate's passion for photography and her love for her friends. We had balloons, cake, some serious high heel shoes, lots of laughter, super cool glitter and nine giggly 13 year old girls!! We thoroughly enjoyed meeting each and every one of Kate's friends - we can see why they have a special place in Kate's heart. Happy Birthday, sweet Kate! We love seeing you become such a strong, lovely, kind and fun teenager!

Jax is one!!!

We are loving these brothers!!! It has been incredible for us to see this family grow over the past year and a half. When we first met them, Baby Jax was still in mom's belly so we created beautiful family of 3 portraits of them. How special was that? At that time, Jose was 2 years old and life as he knew it was about to change with the arrival of a baby brother! Over the past year, we have witnessed the relationship of these sweet brothers develop and grow. And now that Jax is one, it is all about playing together and discovering new things to do and play with. Creating art for their home has been such a joy and we look forward to adding to their collection in the years to come. Happy Birthday, Jax!!

Double the fun!!!

No, you are not seeing double! Just two of the sweetest girls who happen to be twin sisters! Jenny and Kate (and their mom and dad) had almost as much fun during their photo session as we did photographing them. The tutus were a big hit - as you can tell. There was lots of time spent twirling and spinning. In the short time we were with them, it was easy to see what lovely girls and darling sisters they are together. Their individual personalities shone through but together they make quite a pair!

You and 5-7 of your girlfriends are invited to the studio for an evening of glamour, sass, sexy, sensuousness and a whole lot of fun!

This Saturday April 10th -Stories Event!!!! (Twin Cities Photographer)

Yippee! This weekend is our 3rd annual event to celebrate spring, have fun with the kids and give back to our community. It is being held on Saturday April 10th from 10am - 12 noon at the studio. Feel free to park in the lot adjacent to the building. We are inviting clients, friends and family to attend and have a great time!

The charity we have chosen to support this year is Dakota Woodlands. Dakota Woodlands is a non-profit organization who supply shelter for homeless families in our community. Typically families stay an average two months in the facility and they provide temporary housing for up to 110 families a year. In November of 2009, Dakota Woodlands was awarded the 2009 Minnesota Nonprofit Excellence Award. We are so honored and excited to be working with them -what a wonderful organization! http://www.dakotawoodlands.org/

Dakota Woodlands is asking for our help in collecting $5 gift cards to local gas stations and grocery stores. We have set a goal for us to collect 145 gift cards at our Stories event and we think we can do it - with your help!! Or, if you would prefer to make a monetary donation, we will purchase the gift card(s) on your behalf! I know our kids have already dipped into their piggy banks to count out their $5!

Also in support of Dakota Woodlands, we will be having a small silent auction with items such as digital picture frames, a camping gear package, a board game package...just to name a few!

Of course, back by popular demand, we will have an amazing facepainter (who is an artist herself!) and storyteller, balloon maker! The kids (and grown ups) were blown away by the entertainment last year and it will be super great this year too.

And if that wasn't enough, we will also be featuring the local businesses of Doodle Dot Designs by Tricia Prodoehl (handmade children's clothing and accessories to die for!), Stella and Dot Jewelry with stylist Allison Carl (who doesn't need some new spring jewels?!) and the debut of Bath Bars by Brynn.

Our Canuck friends!!

We heart our Canadian friends!!! This super cute family moved to Minnesota last summer from Canada and we couldn't be happier! And they were equally excited to have us create their first official family portrait...what a great way to commemorate living in a new country! We were able to photograph in the studio and then we moved outdoors to take full advantage of the beautiful fall colors (or as they spell it in Canada, "colours"!) Jack, Olivia and Sam were superstars during the session and we captured some great moments between them. You can tell what a special sibling relationship they share! Of course, Sam, who is the youngest, is the most spirited of the three and we couldn't help giggling over the image of him peeking out between his older brother and sister! We know their families back home will adore these images and we are so glad to share them with you!!
