Sunrise beauties
It was a glorious morning the day we went to Firefly Farms (http://www.firefly-farm.com/) in Maple Plain, Minnesota, to photograph Patsy's three magnificent horses, Eddie, Grady & Carly. We arrived shortly after sunrise and took full advantage of the gorgeous light. All three horses looked absolutely stunning-you could tell that Patsy had worked hard the day before preparing them for their big photo session .... and it paid off! You can see from the images that they couldn't have looked more majestic and beautiful. The best part of the morning was seeing Patsy's relationship with each horse: Carly is definitely her princess; Eddie has an easy going, kind personality; and Grady is her more shy and definitely athletic horse. It was a morning we will remember for a long time...

A morning in the meadow...
This session was one of our favorite family sessions so far this year! It was the perfect morning...warm sunlight, cool breeze and two happy boys (and their parents)! Who could ask for anything more?!? On top of that, Lewis had just turned 1 year old and was ready to motor (of course, he has been walking since before 10 months old so he is an old pro by now!) Big brother Franklin (who many of you will recognize since he has been appearing on our blog since he was a baby himself!) wasn't far behind and the two brothers loved exploring the meadow. It was very fun for us to see Franklin and Lewis interacting together and to witness their brotherly bond! You can tell there is lots of exploring together in their future.

River Valley Riders
From April to October, River Valley Riders provides therapeutic horseback riding and carriage driving to 40 clients per week in the St. Croix River Valley. Each client usually has the assistance of three volunteers and is encouraged to participate as independently as possible. Benefits include improvement of balance, increase of core strength, development of self-confidence and improvement of social skills. We had the wonderful opportunity to make portraits for River Valley Riders which will be featured in upcoming newsletters, on their website, a calendar, stationery, and much more. We are so excited to be involved with this amazing group of amazing people. River Valley Riders is in the midst of creating a dream space in Lake Elmo that will ultimately have a year-round indoor equine center. We have seen the plans and it will be a dream come true. One of the biggest fundraisers of the year is just around the corner. Here are the details:
June 26th is the Walk and Ride-A-Thon
River Valley Riders 11th Annual Walk and Ride-A-Thon will be Saturday, June 26, 2010 in beautiful Lake Elmo Park Reserve (1515 Keats Avenue in Lake Elmo). Saddle up your horse or grab your walking shoes or wheels and join us for a fun 8 mile ride or 3 mile walk/wheel. Breakfast, lunch, goodie bags and prizes provided. This event is a major fundraiser for River Valley Riders, a Minnesota non-profit organization who provides horse related activities including therapeutic riding and driving to children and adults by addressing needs in the areas of physical, sensory, neurological, and/or mental health. 100% of the income from the 2010 event will be contributed to the Capital Campaign for Land and Improvements in order to expand therapeutic riding and driving opportunities for people with special needs.
River Valley Riders locations are in Scandia MN, Lake Elmo MN, and East Farmington WI.

Being three.....
Sam is well known on our blog as we have been photographing him since he was a brand newborn over three years ago! And guess what? Pretty soon, Sam will be a big brother!! Yah!! It was so special to photograph their family together for Sam's 3 year old portraits as fairly soon, their family of 3 will be a family of 4! It has been so wonderful for us to follow their relationship as a family and see them grow and blossom! We cannot wait to meet Baby #2!!! Is it a girl or a boy? We don't know so you will have to check back on the blog in about a month or so....

Twin Cities Live: High School Senior Fever!!
http://twincitieslive.com/article/stories/S1595825.shtml?cat=11215
Did you catch Melissa on our favorite local TV show today? If you missed it, you can watch it by clicking on the link above! Miroslavich Photography was a part of a Twin Cities Live Senior Photo contest last month- and the lucky winner was Rosemount High School junior, Cady Hauck! Yah!! Last week we photographed Cady in the studio and on location. We LOVE seniors! And Cady was no exception! She was a sweetheart to work with and fun to get to know! Watch the video clip to learn more about Cady and her passions in life! We can't wait to meet more of our soon-to-be seniors-class of 2011! See below for our high school senior session!!! (our phones have been ringing off the hook since the segment aired!!)
Melissa also provided tips to the TCL viewers about how to take senior photos yourself if you want to experiment a little at home! Of course, we would love the opportunity to create beautiful images for you!
Here is what Twin Cities Live has summarized from today's show:
"Senior photos have changed over the years and today they’re a way for teens to express themselves in a single photo. Photographer Melissa Miroslavich visited the set of Twin Cities Live to show us how to save money by taking quality senior photos at home.
Some tips from Melissa include:
Senior photos should be taken the summer before senior year because the schools will want students’ photos for the yearbook by the beginning of senior year
Make a plan: figure out what makes you special and unique, find out what the yearbook requires, get parents’ feedback, and pick out your clothing and location.
When taking the photos, remember to think about: Lighting, camera, posing, focusing on the eyes, and using editing software.
By following these tips, your home senior photo session is sure to have a quality result without burning a hole in your pocketbook. However, if you don’t think your photo skills are quite up to the professional standard, Melissa is offering Twin Cities Live viewers a $175 dollar photo session with her for just $100 if you book by Friday at 5pm! To book an appointment call (651)-343-4823."

Three of a kind!
These three siblings were a treat to photograph! They came with their own individual personalities that shine through in each of their own portraits...we loved their energy, giggles, and smiles! But most of all, we loved seeing them together! Hannah, who is the oldest (and how stunning is she?!?), loves her younger brothers (although we know there must be days when the drive her crazy!!) Sam and Jesse are 100% boys and share the same great giggle! Put them all together and you get a great mix of love, fun and silliness!
