Jimena - Class of 2013

As summer winds down with Labor Day weekend upon us, we thought this blog post would help gear up for the start of the school year for many of our young clients next week!  Jimena was one of the fabulous high school seniors we met this summer when they came to us for their senior portraits!  Next week, Jimena officially begins her senior year!  We photographed Jimena earlier this summer on a gorgeous morning at the studio and on location.  What a beauty she is!  It has been a pleasure getting to know all of our seniors and are looking forward to many more senior sessions in September!  Enjoy these last few days of summer!!!

It's official-We've moved!!!

We survived the studio move today totally unscathed!! In fact, as you can see from our Hipstamatic prints, we were actually helpful (not sure the professional movers we hired would necessarily agree, but we feel like we were!!) Remarkably, we did the entire move in just 5 hours-it was probably because we did such a fabulous job packing!  We said good bye to our old studio as we turned the key for the last time and headed 6 miles east to our brand spanking new studio in Woodbury!!  Do you know how awesome it was to pull up right outside our front door and walk right in?  The fresh paint, new flooring, stunning new rooms  (not to mention all the storage!!) and natural light greeted us when we walked in.  It felt fantastic!!  After some unpacking today, we called it a day and will finish the rest this week and next (it's hard work watching the movers do all the work lifting and carrying!!).  We will be busy getting everything settled and beautiful before opening our doors the week of September 10th! Don't forget our Grand Opening Celebration on Thursday October 4 from 6:30pm-8pm!!
Yippee!!! We are in!!!

Sweet siblings!

Ali and Nolan were so super fun and delightful to photograph!!  And we can't forget 11 year old Jack, their sweet "fur-sibling" who was also a star being photographed!  Ali and Nolan have the most stunningly beautiful eyes that light up with the camera. Seriously, we have never seen eyes as striking as Ali's!  Not to mention, Ali and Nolan were adorable together!  We love seeing siblings who are so sweet with each other!  Good luck to Nolan who begins kindergarten next week!  What an exciting time!!!  We can't wait to hear all about it!

A gift to grandparents

We love when our clients contact us about a photo session for any reason but when the portraits are going to be a gift to someone in their lives, it makes it that much more special.  This is exactly the reason Ian's parents contacted us this summer to photograph Ian. Ian's grandparents live on the East Coast and as a result, do not get to see him frequently. Ian's parents decided that new portraits of Ian would be the ideal gift for them this year.  The grandparents are a big fan of black and white photography which we loved creating for them.  Ian is a teenager who is very into cross country running in high school so we were able to incorporate this passion into the session.  The result was images that truly reflected Ian's personality.  We are excited to hear how his grandparents react when they receive their gift from Ian's family soon!!

More summer mornings...

How is it that the summer is winding down?  How is that possible?  This session has to be one of our favorite summer mornings...not to mention one of our favorite families!  We began photographing them and preserving their family memories when Dominick was still in his mom's tummy!  Now he is 6 and starting kindergarten this fall.  We love that they have chosen us to capture these moments in their family's life.  So happy they have added another beautiful family portrait to their walls.

The sign is up!!!!

It is starting to take shape! The new studio space is coming along and it is so exciting!!! Since it is "virgin" space and never been used before, it has had to be built out from scratch which has been awesome -and at times overwhelming as there have been many decisions to be made-from paint color to location of electrical sockets!  Melissa stops by daily to see the progress-as of today, the walls are almost finished being painted.  The colors are stunning!!  It seems hard to believe that we will start moving in just over 2 weeks. Essch!!  We will have more details soon-including the date of our Grand Opening Celebration!  Until then, it is business as usual at our current space.  We have a packed few weeks ahead of us with several high school senior sessions, family sessions and babies!  We will keep you posted on upcoming important dates!

Baby Norah

Those of us with our own kids will recall that sweet baby stage when your baby started to respond to your facial expressions with big, wide smiles-beaming from ear to ear and sometimes even giggling out loud.   Youi remember that stage before they could sit up on their own but could lift their head up and smile up at you? This was exactly the stage Baby Norah was in when she came into the studio for her portraits.  Norah was 3 1/2 months old and could not stop smiling and laughing at us!  We loved it!!  It was fun dressing Norah up in the darling outfits Mom picked out (check out the "built in" shoes on her tights!!).  Norah definitely is a pink girl!!  Bows, headbands, flowers- she let us do it all!!  She is becoming quite the girly-girl!!

Carefree Summer days!

These cuties are kind of like rock stars on our blog as we have been photographing them since their oldest, Brennan, was a baby!! Brennan is now 6 1/2 years old and brother Davis is 4 1/2 years old and little sister Eleanor is a big girl who is 2 years old!!!  We can always count on their mom pulling their outfits together into something awesome and this session was no exception!  We love their energy, smiles and giggles- and being outside for this session was so fun! Watching these siblings run, dance, climb and explore is what summer is all about.  We are so happy to be a part of your lives!
