Twin Cities Live!!

Many of you were able to catch Melissa on Twin Cities Live yesterday - the hottest day of our Minnesota summer!  Looking cool and composed on camera as always, Melissa talked about taking summer pictures around water and avoiding some of the common challenges associated with that.  The sun, water,  overexposure and squinting can work against you capturing those awesome summer memories! All round good Sport!!!

A few weeks ago we were lucky enough to spend the morning with Megan, a University of Minnesota veterinary student, and her lovable rough collie named Sport.  Megan is a sweetheart and Sport is a gorgeous boy who absolutely adores Megan.  Seriously, he could not take his eyes off of her!!  Sport had fun running and leaping on the grounds of the U of M St Paul campus.  We couldn't resist capturing Megan and Sport among the stunning late spring flower beds.  Honestly-we hardly wanted to return to the studio that day!!  Megan fell in love with these images and the fact Melissa captured Sport's personality!  We look forward to having Megan's family enjoy viewing these images on the blog from afar and having them come by the studio when they visit later this summer!!!

10 years of wedded bliss!

When Jared contacted us about surprising his bride of 10 years with an anniversary photo session, we were more than delighted!!  Not only is this the sweetest thing for a husband to think of on his own, we also just happen to adore this family whom we have been photographing since their oldest was a newborn (Sam is now a big 6 year old!)  And we love surprises!!!  Jared brought Kathryn to the studio to surprise her with the planning session with Melissa ( and there may or may not have been pinot grigio involved!) so that Kathryn could be involved in the planning process!  Boy, was she surprised!! The photo session took place a couple of weeks later on a beautiful spring morning in nearby historic Stillwater, Minnesota!  It was so refreshing to focus on this lovely couple  and capturing small moments that morning.  10 years married is a great milestone to be celebrated and we can't wait to capture another 10 years!  Congratulations, Jared and Kathryn!!  We are so happy to have been a part of another one of your family's special memories!!

Welcome to the world, Baby Isaac!!!

Over the past two years since big brother John was born, we have gotten to know and grown to adore this cute family!  This spring, they grew by one when Baby Isaac arrived on the scene!!  And what a cutie he is!!!  We loved photographing Isaac's newborn portraits when he was 4 days old. Of course, John joined in the fun and we captured some 2 year old images of him with his favorite toy right now-a firetruck!!  We couldn't resist the elephant images and can't wait to add the elephant into Isaac's 6 and 12 month sessions!!  Congratulations on the arrival of Issac!!

We are so proud of our 2013 High School seniors who have all graduated this past week!  We thought we would showcase some of them on the blog! It is amazing to us how talented and accomplished these young men and women are-and are headed towards amazing futures! Futures that include Baylor University, University of Wisconsin-Madison, The Tisch School of the Arts at NYU just to name a few!!

On that note, we want to extend an invitation to incoming high school seniors to give us a call and set up a time meet with Melissa and discuss your senior portrait session!  It is such a special time and likely the last time you will be photographed for long time! It's the perfect opportunity to showcase your unique style and interests!  We have done some amazing senior sessions incorporating all sorts of interests like music, waterskiing, horseback riding, sculpture art, ballet and even hunting! 

Toothless wonder!

Okay, so we may have a wee bit of an obsession with toothless sessions.  We readily admit it!!  But how can we help ourselves?!?  That gummy grin gets us everytime.  It may also be because it is such a short window of "cuteness" before those big, grown up pearly whites appear and alter appearances until kiddos "grow" into them.
We encourage all of our clients to come in for a toothless session and Leah's family did exactly that!!  Leah lost one of her top front teeth awhile back and had the other front tooth hanging there for quite some time!  Finally, it fell out (it may have had some help!) and we got her in to the studio for this session!  The extra fun part was that Leah got to help "art direct" the session by choosing her outfit and having input into the background used.  And it was all about just her!!!  The result?   You can see for yourself how darling the images turned out!!  Leah and her family will have a reminder of this fleeting moment in time with the portrait in her room!  Love it!!

A little bit of everything!

This session really did have a little bit of everything- a sweet baby boy, a darling older sister, a lovable pup and a family we have loved getting to know!  (and not to mention a little bit of Twins fever, too!!) Evan, who was just over 7 months at the session, could not stop smiling!  When we first met him during his mom's planning session with us, his infectious smiles and giggles captured our hearts!!  And he didn't disappoint us at the photo session either!!  Evan's sister, Halle, who is 11 years old, is such a doting and loving big sis!  It is hard to believe that Halle is only 11-so mature, poised and grown up with such a sparkle in her eye!!  And we can't forget Roscoe, their pet pug!!  What a cutie!!

We are looking forward to this fall when we see this family again for a location session at their new home!

A lot of love for Teal and Lime!

We heart Jackie, creator and owner of Teal & Lime and all of her creativity!!  We first met Jackie in early 2010 while she was pregnant with their second baby. Jackie, Jose and little Jose came to the studio for a maternity session and the rest is history!  Since then, we have followed their family as Baby Jax was born, learned to walk, talk and chase his big brother around!  Little Jose is now a big kindergartener who also plays tee ball!  And now, we love to follow Jackie's blog, Teal & Lime, and all of her fantastic home decorating ideas!  So when she asked us to create headshots of her for her blog, we were uber-excited!! Here is how Jackie describes creating Teal & Lime:

"I started Teal & Lime in June 2011 as a creative outlet to share the projects I was already doing in our home. The dialogue of Teal & Lime had been playing in my head through all those projects, and I finally put into print. It is a journal of making a house our home. When I started Teal & Lime, I was still working in a confining cubicle for a large corporation…it zapped the life right out of me. I broke free at the end of 2012 to spend more time with my family and to grow Teal & Lime. I feel alive again! I get to spend lots of time with my two little boys before and after school. I get to work from my beautiful home in a light-filled, color-filled office. All the while, I continue on the journey of making my house a home and making it ours. I have been blessed to help others do the same in their homes."

We are constantly amazed and inspired by Jackie's flair and talent for home decorating and her passion for DIY.  It was incredibly flattering to be featured on her blog and we are so grateful that this family is a part of Miroslavich Photography's life!  We can't wait to see what the future holds for Teal & Lime- we know it was be fabulous!!!

Smiles that light up any room!!

Ross and Alyse are 5 year old twins who light up any room they enter!!  The studio was abuzz the morning they visited us for these special portraits!! It's not every day that your twin kiddos turn 5 and start kindergarten in the fall!!  We loved Ross' energy and spunk-and his love for his sister!!  It warmed our hearts!! And Alyse had all the attitude and spark of a 5 year old going on 15!!  We loved it!!  But mostly we loved creating these beautiful portraits for their lovely mom, Betsy, who inspires us with her grace and positivity despite all that life has thrown her way.  We know these images are lighting up her home and as much as her heart!
