Celebrating sisters!

We were so fortunate to meet this cute family recently after they were the winning recipient of our donated gift certificate at the Luther College Silent Auction! We love supporting education and schools! And we get to meet the best families!!

Sisters Brynn, 8, and Elise, 5, were a hoot to hang out with and photograph! Is there anything cuter than sisters?!?  They chatted Melissa up about everything girly-including dance, gymnastics, ballet, books and art! We wish they could have stayed all day!!  We loved watching the interaction between the sisters and the love and silliness that ensues!

Fall Stories

Part of what makes our jobs so much fun is being able to capture moments in families' lives that tell their story.  Whether it is the addition of a new family member, a milestone like starting to walk,  a lost tooth, or the start of a new school year, every session has a story to be told.  This lovely family decided that a special birthday was the time for a new family portrait.  The perfect time.  So, on a bright fall day, we created these memories!  The result?  We captured a time in their lives when McKayla had her animal print hair extension, when Brady's grown up teeth had grown all the way in, when their hair was still sun-bleached and their skin still sun-kissed.  We captured the sweet brother-sister relationship and Brady's brotherly protectiveness. We captured their family spontaneity and fun spirit. We love that when they see these portraits in their home, they will remember these things and the stories that accompany them.  So thrilled that we can do this for you!

Lucky number 10!!!

Celebrating 10 years of wedded bliss prompted these long time clients to have us create beautiful family portraits of them this summer. We have been photographing Isabelle and Lily since Lily was just a baby so we were thrilled to photograph the whole family this time. And what a lovely family they are! Stephanie and Larry are celebrating their 10th wedding anniversary so what a better time to celebrate family with a family portrait?! We are so happy that we could capture this special time for you. Enjoy!

First Communion.

First experiences are always special so it was an honor for us to create portraits for Calista's family of Calista's recent First Communion. In particualar, Calista's mom knew she wanted a wall portrait to commemorate this occasion so she chose our Vintage designer piece to showcase Calista's portrait and it couldn't be more fitting. We are thrilled that we could help keep this wonderful memory special.

Spring into Summer!

This was a gorgeous session that took place just as spring became summer in Minnesota! And what a great family to kick off the summer with! A darling brother and sister, super sweet parents and an adorable pup named Hudson (after Hudson, Wisconsin, of course!) We started off in the studio and then moved outside for the rest of the session-there is something about photographing outside in Minnesota when the weather becomes great that really makes sessions feel special. It helped that this was a fun family - you can really tell that they love spending time together.

Toothless smiles

Something special I do for each of my boys is have Melissa photograph them on their own when they have lost their front, top teeth. There is something so endearing about those toothless smiles-and before you know it, those big, gawky looking grown up teeth grow in and that toothless grin is gone forever (unless you play hockey and as a hockey mom, I hope that never happens around here!) Blake, my middle son, is almost 8 and has been anxiously awaiting these two teeth to fall out (it may have to do with the tooth fairy leaving a little more for the top front teeth!) As soon as it happened, he had his own session with Melissa where he got to choose his outfits and props (football uniform, pajamas and a stuffed animal). These images have joined his older brother's toothless images in a beautiful image box we keep in the family for all to marvel at! It is a special keepsake we will cherish forever (thanks Melissa!)
