Emily- Class of 2015

Can you believe that we photographed our first high school senior of the season in April?!?  Every year, senior photo session season gets earlier and earlier-and we couldn't be more excited!  The energy and excitement that these incredible young people bring to the studio is so revitalizing for us! (Especially after the long, hard winter we just experienced in the midwest!!)  We can't think of a better senior (or technically junior!!) to kick off the season with!! Emily was so sweet and lovely with the most gorgeous smile ever!  We can't wait to meet Emily's friends and classmates this summer for their senior session!!

Keeping up with Catherine and Nicholas!

The last time we photographed Catherine and Nicholas, Catherine was twirling around the studio in her tutu, Nicholas was riding his motorized jeep and Zac the dog was not a part of this super fun family!!  Fast forward a few years and we were delighted to have them back in the studio.  Catherine had been a part of our ZOOM Photography Camp for kids last summer so we have enjoyed keeping in touch.  This year it was time to update their portrait wall in their home with new portraits of the kids plus Zac the dog!!  It was a fun spring morning and one of our first times photographing outside this spring.  Ahhh!  It was heartwarming capturing brother and sister together and witnessing the special bond between Nicholas and Zac.  We can't wait to see these images displayed in their home!

Ted

Sweet Ted.  Ted's owner, Sally, saw Melissa on Twin Cities Live one night when they were re-broadcasting a segment that featured Miroslavich Photography.  We are so glad that Sally couldn't sleep that night and caught our segment!  We are delighted to have met both Sally and her Ted.  Ted truly is a sweet, lovely pet.  He has eyes that are all knowing and so kind looking.  We also loved all of his darling curls.  We know Sally will cherish these images forever.

Do you think you have a cute kid? Is he or she especially cute during Minnesota's spring season? Enter the Minnesota Baby "Spring Photo Contest", and you could win a photo shoot for your child and family, with Melissa Miroslavish of Miroslavich Photography, valued at over $300!

Email a photo of your child (age 0 - 12) enjoying the spring weather in Minnesota, to info@minnesotababy.org by Sunday, April 29th, 2012 at 6 p.m.. Please include the child's name and age. Also, include your name and contact info (will not be published). All photos will be displayed on the Minnesota Baby Facebook page, for your friends and family to vote on (by "liking" and/or commenting on the photo). The three photos with the most "likes" and comments will be presented to Melissa Miroslavich, and she will determine her favorite photo. That person will win a photo session and $150 photo credit from Miroslavich Photography! Voting begins on April 29th at 9 p.m., and wraps up on Saturday, May 5th at 9 p.m. Our winner will be announced on Sunday, May 6th.
Once the photos are published on Facebook, invite your friends and family to "like" the Minnesota Baby Facebook page, then vote on your photo by "liking" and/or commenting on your photo. Limit one entry per child, and both likes and comments will be counted as one vote each. Good luck!

Spring into Summer!

This was a gorgeous session that took place just as spring became summer in Minnesota! And what a great family to kick off the summer with! A darling brother and sister, super sweet parents and an adorable pup named Hudson (after Hudson, Wisconsin, of course!) We started off in the studio and then moved outside for the rest of the session-there is something about photographing outside in Minnesota when the weather becomes great that really makes sessions feel special. It helped that this was a fun family - you can really tell that they love spending time together.

Saturday April 10th: Stories Event-Chapter Two: "Spring on the Farm"

Next weekend is fast approaching and we couldn't be more excited!! Our 3rd annual event to celebrate spring and give back to our community is being held on Saturday April 10th from 10am - 12 noon at the studio. We are inviting our clients, friends and family to attend and have a great time!

The charity we have chosen to support this year is the Dakota Woodlands. Dakota Woodlands is a non-profit organization who supply shelter for homeless families in our community. Typically families stay on average two months in their facility and they provide temporary housing for up to 110 families a year; and help an additional 30 families with their services. In November of 2009, Dakota Woodlands was awarded the 2009 Minnesota Nonprofit Excellence Award.




Specifically, Dakota Woodlands is asking for our help in collecting $5 gift cards to local gas stations and grocery stores. We have set a goal for us to collect 145 gift cards at our event and we think we can do it - with your help!! Or, if you would prefer to make a monetary donation, we will purchase the gift card(s) on your behalf! I know our kids have already dipped into their piggy banks to count out their $5!

Also in support of Dakota Woodlands, we will be having a silent auction with items such as a digital picture frame, a camping gear package , a board game package...just to name a few!

Of course, back by popular demand, we will have the facepainter (who is an artist herself!) and the storyteller from last year's event! The kids (and grown ups)were blown away by their entertainment!!

And if that wasn't enough, we will also be featuring the local businesses of Doodle Dot Designs by Tricia Prodoehl (handmade children's clothing and accessories to die for!!), Stella and Dot Jewelry with stylist Allison Carl (who doesn't need some new spring jewels?!?!) and the debut of Bathbars by Brynn (local bathbar artist extraordinaire!)

Rainy day giggles!!!

Sam, one of our recent Baby Collection grads, came into the studio soon after he turned 2 in April for this first session as a part of our Toddler Collection...and what a ball we had!! Not only is it so special for us to see kids like Sam whom we have been photographing since newborn, it is awesome that his parents have captured all of his ages/stages in portraits displayed in their home! We are going to have fun completing their wall of portraits over the next few years!

When Sam came in with his raincoat, we couldn't resist doing some chalk drawing on the chalkboard. Sam LOVED it!!! And very appropriate for an April birthday! Sam is such a sweetheart!!

This new designer piece is the Moxie which has become very popular this spring! Next time you are at the studio, ask to see it!! It rocks!!! Sam's parents have decided to have one each year of Sam during the Toddler Collection and display them together. How cool will that be?

Sugar & Spice.....

and everything nice...that's what little girls are made of!! And that poem couldn't be more true for little Julia! For this family, pink around the house is totally new since Baby Julia has two big brothers at home! Therefore, this 6 month session was all about girl-time and lots of pink!!

We think Julia will be a "hat girl" when she grows up because she rocked every hat we tried!! Dad may have thought this one was a bit "frou-frou" but we thought it was the best!!!

And finally, at the end, some mommy and me time!! We can't wait for her 12 month session in the fall....

One sunny morning in Afton...

Okay, so the studio hasn't completely "gone to the dogs" (sorry, I couldn't help myself!!) but we have had a really cool run of some awesome dog sessions this spring and we have to share! We love it!!
This is Linda (from Linda Schindler Dog Training) and her three gorgeous dogs, Sailor (the dachshund), and Marty & Clara (Irish setters). We spent a fantastic morning with them at our new favorite outside location in Afton. The morning light was absolutely stunning! We can't wait to have more sessions there!

More dogs...Part 2!!!

So, we've gone a little dog crazy lately!! We couldn't resist sharing these images with all of you, too!! Bob (a boxer) and Riley (a pomeranian) were superstars at the studio!! Look at how regal Bob looks!!! And Riley was fun loving and cooperated very well at the chalkboard which cracked us up! Dogs can be so much like 2 year olds...lots of energy, spirited and very sweet!! Up next....a Great Dane!! Check back soon!!!
