Chloe.

How cute is Chloe?!? It is fitting that Chloe's owner, Erin, came to the session in her stylish rainboots since here in Minnesota, we have been experiencing a long stretch of rainy days! Chloe was a star and loved posing for Melissa. Maybe a future in modelling awaits dear Chloe?

Rainy day giggles!!!

Sam, one of our recent Baby Collection grads, came into the studio soon after he turned 2 in April for this first session as a part of our Toddler Collection...and what a ball we had!! Not only is it so special for us to see kids like Sam whom we have been photographing since newborn, it is awesome that his parents have captured all of his ages/stages in portraits displayed in their home! We are going to have fun completing their wall of portraits over the next few years!

When Sam came in with his raincoat, we couldn't resist doing some chalk drawing on the chalkboard. Sam LOVED it!!! And very appropriate for an April birthday! Sam is such a sweetheart!!

This new designer piece is the Moxie which has become very popular this spring! Next time you are at the studio, ask to see it!! It rocks!!! Sam's parents have decided to have one each year of Sam during the Toddler Collection and display them together. How cool will that be?

Stories Event!!! What a party!!!

What a party it was!!! Saturday was our Stories event at the studio and what fun was had!! We want to thank everyone who donated books to our event to benefit the Minnesota Literacy Council...we are still counting (as we are still getting books dropped off!) but we are well past the 350 mark!! Almost double our initial goal!! THANK YOU!!!

We had a great turnout to the event despite the sunny, warm weather outdoors! Kids (and adults!) were fascinated by Colleen from WonderWeavers who entertained the kids with stories and her puppets, a craft, and very detailed balloon figures! And Cindy, the facepainter, was quite the artist! You can see from the images in the video, the facepaint was phenomenal!

Thank you also to Jennifer Pogatchnik from doodleinvite.com who brought her latest stationery designs for people to view and order for Mother's Day and teacher's gifts! Tracy Morrison brought wonderful new designs from Matilda Jane. And everyone enjoyed our rain-themed cookies specially handmade for the event! It was an action packed morning!!

We are hoping to make this an annual event so if you couldn't make it this year, stay tuned next spring for our 2nd Annual Stories Event!!!

For every 5 books you bring in to donate, you will receive 5 raffle tickets!! Save the date for our Stories Event!!!

Over the past couple of months, we have been busy planning a very fun event for everyone at the studio....the Stories event! On Saturday April 18th from 10am-noon, Miroslavich Photography is hosting a special event to promote the joy of reading (on a rainy day...well, whether it is rainy or not, we are still hosting the event!). We are fortunate enough to have storytellers from WonderWeavers coming to tell and act out stories, face painting, crafts and lots of fun! In addition to this, we are collecting new and gently used children's books to donate to the Minnesota Literacy Council....our goal: 200 books!! We have already started collecting them at the studio and have started a big tower of books in our lobby!! You have to check it out!!

And if that wasn't all enough, we will also be having a Matilda Jane Clothing Trunk show www.customer.matildajanetrunkshow.com Check them out online!!! stunning childrens' clothing. We will have Snickerdoodle Stationery there (www.doodleinvite.com) with adorable kids' party invites, children's stationery and teacher gifts.

We will be posting more about the Stories event over the next couple of weeks so stay tuned....and RSVP to 651.343.4823 if you are planning to come!!

Congratulations, Melissa!!

Melissa is far too modest to brag about this herself but I had to announce it to everyone as we are so proud of her! Two portraits created by Melissa have recently been accepted into the General Collection of the 117th International Exhibition of Professional Photography. Melissa's work will be on display at the Phoenix Convention Center, January 11-13, 2009, in Phoenix, Arizona.
Approximately 4514 entries were submitted to the Professional Photographers of American's (PPA's) International Print Competition, from which a panel of more 20 eminent photographers from across the United States selected the images that would comprise the 2008 General and Loan Collections... the most prestigious awards. Titled "Spinning in the Rain" and "Passing Time", Melissa's entries will be in Phoenix alongside other photographic works from not only PPA's print competition but also travelling and special invitational displays. These images constitute the world's largest annual exhibit of professional photography gathered simultaneously under one roof.
Way to go, Melissa!!

Summer Rain Shower

We had the best rain shower Friday afternoon - very wet, very fast, and then sunshine! The girls were more than happy to run around in the pouring rain, and even happier to splash along the curb.

They were soaking wet in no time flat and all giggles!

I know I probably shouldn't be able to enter the Sweet Feet contest (since I am helping to judge it). If I could this would definitely be one...
