Blue eyed boy!

It started out as a 6 month old, blue eyed boy session. But Oliver was totally willing to "share" his time in the spotlight with his big brother and sisters!!  And what fun we had!!  2 year old sweet, loving Christopher adores his baby brother!! Free-spirited 7 year old Vivian had a blast being silly and funny with Melissa during the session and big sister, Isabelle, was definitely the "mother hen" of the group with her nurturing and sweet nature!  We adored their session and can't wait for Oliver's 1 year session this fall!!

Celebrating sisters!

We were so fortunate to meet this cute family recently after they were the winning recipient of our donated gift certificate at the Luther College Silent Auction! We love supporting education and schools! And we get to meet the best families!!

Sisters Brynn, 8, and Elise, 5, were a hoot to hang out with and photograph! Is there anything cuter than sisters?!?  They chatted Melissa up about everything girly-including dance, gymnastics, ballet, books and art! We wish they could have stayed all day!!  We loved watching the interaction between the sisters and the love and silliness that ensues!

Emily- Class of 2015

Can you believe that we photographed our first high school senior of the season in April?!?  Every year, senior photo session season gets earlier and earlier-and we couldn't be more excited!  The energy and excitement that these incredible young people bring to the studio is so revitalizing for us! (Especially after the long, hard winter we just experienced in the midwest!!)  We can't think of a better senior (or technically junior!!) to kick off the season with!! Emily was so sweet and lovely with the most gorgeous smile ever!  We can't wait to meet Emily's friends and classmates this summer for their senior session!!

Mother's Day-Generations of love!

As Mother's Day approaches in a couple of weeks, we thought we would share with you this darling image from a recent session that included grandma, mom and son.  What an incredible gift to give/receive! This lovely family scheduled their session while grandma was visiting from sunny California earlier this spring.  Now, they can all cherish memories from this sweet session even though the miles separate them for most of the year!

Peek a boo- Evan is (not quite!) Two!!

As this sibling pair gets ready for a brand new baby brother due any day now, they came into the studio recently to capture Evan at 18 months of age and his big sis, Halle, at 12 years old!  Evan is a guy who LOVES his diggers and tractors-so much so we thought having his big tractor at the session would be super fun!!  Evan was initially perplexed about how (and why?) his prized possession was at the studio- and maybe even a little worried it wouldn't make it home?!?!  Although capturing Evan and his interaction with the tractor was priceless!!  Big sister Halle is becoming such a lovely young lady and hammed it up for the camera but letting us place the crown on her head-because what 12 year old doesn't still want to be a princess?!?  We can't wait til Halle turns 13 this fall so we can plan a photo session just for her!!!  And that new sibling- stay tuned for newborn images on the blog very soon!! Are you a Cat person or a Dog person?!?!

So- what are you?  A Cat person or a Dog person?!? The most recent issue of the Animal Humane Society's Animal Tracks magazine poses this important question with a double cover feature photographed by Melissa.  The author, Jeff Moravec set out to determine which species is preferred.  By giving each species its own super cute cover-it may lead the reader to have second thoughts to which one they do prefer!  Mission accomplished!  What do you think?  Click the link below to read the article (and see more of Melissa's images!) and then tell us- Dog person or Cat person?!? Pretty in Pink!

So far, 2014 has been the year of babies!! Newborns, 6 month olds, nearly year old babes- you name it!   With each new baby, we marvel at the new-ness and sweetness of each one! Baby Lauren came to us at just a few days old with her family including big brother Jack who is all of 21 months old. After almost 2 years of little boy cuteness, Mom is certainly excited to be adding pink into the mix!  And it seems to be Lauren's color! Next up-Jack's 2 year old session this summer when Lauren is closer to 6 months old and when we can be basking in the summer sun!!

Border Collie Fun!

Roni is a 6 year old border collie with so much personality and spunk!  Her owner, Tom, contacted us awhile back to set up this session to capture Roni.   Tom has had all of his pets photographed around this same age and proudly displays them in his home. He knew that Roni is the "perfect" age for her portraits.  We couldn't agree more! She was darling and so well behaved!!  The result? Stunning portraits of Roni - and some lovely images of Tom and Roni together that are so heartwarming.  We can't wait to meet Tom's other dog, Sarge, once Sarge is ready for his photography debut!!  

Hannah- Class of 2014

Just a flashback to one of last fall's high school senior sessions!  Hannah is a current high school senior getting ready to graduate this spring.  We love our high school seniors and the energy and excitement they bring to the studio! Hannah amazed us with her involvement in her school during her senior year and the commitments she had made to various activities!
We are in the midst of preparing for our Class of 2015 senior sessions- in fact, our first session is in a couple of weeks!!  We are also creating senior party invitations for all of our graduates.  Melissa loves designing these invites!

Sweet kisses!!

Who wouldn't want to smother this little guy with kisses?!?!  We loved having Greyson to the studio for his 6 month portraits-and little did we know that not only was he sitting up on his own, but he was also crawling, pulling himself up on furniture and generally motoring around quite well!!  (let's just say, he has got great genes!!) We created the BEST VALENTINES CARD EVER for this sweet family to send out this year!
We can't wait to see what Greyson is doing when he comes back for his year old portraits this summer! (at this rate, he may be running marathons!!)
