Seniors rock!!!

Okay, funny story about senior sessions....as many of you know, I am from Canada. In Canada, generally we do not have senior high school photos taken. We do the more traditional graduation photos with the cap and gown. When I first starting working with Melissa, she told me that in addition to children and families, she loves to do senior portrait sessions as well. Not being familiar with this tradition, for a long time after that, I was under the impression that Melissa did a lot of senior citizen portraits so you can imagine my surprise when teenagers came in for their senior sessions!
Having said that, I am totally bummed that we didn't do this when I was in high school!! Senior sessions are so fun!! It is such a different experience that chasing around toddlers! Andrew came in for his senior session not long ago and did an awesome job! He was very relaxed and at ease for the camera. Andrew is an artist and brought along a sweatshirt that he designed and made himself which is in the first image below. Very cool!! All the best, Andrew, for a great senior year!!!

Dog Days of Summer gone by.....

This session took place on a beautiful evening at the end of summer....look at the light the sun gave us! Spectacular! This is such a great family...Murphy, Meg & Bailey are adorable Wheaton Terriers who are just like big teddy bears! They did great being photographed and all got along very well...I think they actually enjoyed all of the attention! They also enjoyed the "fake squirrel" that Dave planted in the tree to get some great tree shots! Too funny!! The things we do to get great images!! We love it!

Meet Baby Ella....

Have I mentioned before that we LOVE babies?!?!?! This is Baby Ella when she was 7 days old! Look at those tiny feet!! She was pretty awake and alert for her photo session "debut" despite the fact she was only a week old! Ella's big brother, Aidan, (who is still a baby himself at only 16 months old!) came along as well and we were able to capture some very sweet images of him, too! What a darling family! We were thrilled to create the Bambino for them...the final image below capturing 8 images of newborn Ella to be hung in her new nursery. Congratulations to the whole family....what a wonderful (and VERY busy) time in their lives!

New Photo Contest....Music to My Ears!!

A recent photo session inspired our current photo contest! (Grant brought his cello to his session and impressed up immensely with his talent!) All you have to do is take pictures of anything you feel relates to music and write a couple of words about why it sounds good to your ears! Maybe it is your 2 year old "making music" with pots and pans or a recent rock concert you attended at First Avenue...you decide! More PJ Party fun!!!

Check out this sleepyhead!! What a beauty! This is Miss Madi who lit up the studio with her personality and charm when she was in for our PJ Party session this past summer! The feathers were a huge hit (you should have seen the studio at the end of the day..what a mess!...however, it was all worth it!) Madi even had a wardrobe change so she could wear two different pairs of jammies! Fantastic!! Bedtime has never been this much fun!

Girlie Session!

As a charter member of the "moms-to-boys-only" club, I am always excited for our girlie girl sessions (somehow I don't think my husband would be overly thrilled if I had Melissa do a photo session with Bennett, Blake & Max in tu-tu's!) and Allison's session was very much girlie!!! What a doll! Allison was insistent that she wear the multi-color tutu despite the fact that mom preferred the more subtle lavender tutu...however, this first image ended up being mom's favorite! Could she get any cuter?!?! Mom loved all of the images and she had the best line during our viewing session..."These images make me feel all pink inside!" I couldn't sum it up better!!!

End of the summer in the city....

This was one of our final family sessions of the summer (hard to believe!) And what a great family to end the summer with! They moved here from Cincinnati a couple of years ago and have settled into the community very well (Mom is PTA president already!) Abby and Grant are such wonderful brother and sister....and each has their own personality and style. How great is the cowboy hat image of Abby???? And Grant is quite the musician..we are so glad he brought his cello to the session (it inspired our current photo contest...more details to follow!)
We know that their extended family back home out east will be reading/viewing the blog and catching a glimpse of their loved ones here in Minnesota! Enjoy!

Special Event...Holiday Card Day!!! Saturday October 18th!!

Because we LOVE to create amazing holiday cards, we are opening one special Saturday in October to do just that!!! Holiday cards were so popular last year, that we need to have a day dedicated to them this year! ONLY 12 mini-sessions are available for this very special event. Each includes one 20 minute photography session, 24 designed holiday cards & 8 wallets for $239.

We will begin accepting reservations on September 17th at 9am to reserve your session. Please leave a message, calls will be returned in the order they were received.

September Sessions...going, going, (almost) gone!!

Okay, is it just me or does September seem to be whizzing by???? Doesn't it seem like yesterday we were in flip flops and bathing suits and going to the beach/pool? Well, whether we like it or not, September is almost half over and our sessions for September are almost booked! Mother & Daughter!

Yes, these two beautiful women are mother and daughter...although they could easily be mistaken for sisters! We had a great time in the studio and then a rockin' good time in the alley when Melissa asked them to give us a rock star leap! Awesome! Teenagers (and their moms!) are so much fun!

It was an honor for us to create such beautiful images of the two of them and some of 17 year old Casey on her own. We know they will cherish their portraits forever.

Christmas is coming.....

Yes, I know that school has just started and it seems far too early to be thinking of the holidays, however, we have been doing a lot of our holiday planning at Miroslavich Photography already! We have a special event planned for October so stay tuned for more exciting news about that.

In addition, our holiday deadlines have been set and we wanted to make sure everyone is aware of them! All photo sessions need to be completed by October 31st; and all orders need to be placed by November 15th for us to ensure they will be ready in time for Christmas. Waiting for Baby Bean!!

We first met this darling family when they were expecting Grae, who is now 4 years old. So we were delighted when they wanted to come in for a maternity session for baby #2! Grae has been referring to this baby as "Bean" for most of her mom's pregnancy and we are anxious to see if that name will stick or if they will choose something else (somehow I think Grae may always use the name Bean)! It was an awesome session with all of them...Alana is such a stunning pregnant mommy...we just love her belly!!
We can't wait to hear about Bean's arrival sometime this fall!!

Baby Feet Winner: Erin from Burlington, Ontario, Canada! An entry all the way from Canada! Awesome! Erin captured her 5 month old daughter's first time having her feet in the ocean while visiting West Palm Beach, Florida! Look at those chubby feet!! We love it!!

Kids' Feet Entry: Lisa from Maple Grove, Minnesota. Capturing 3 kids four years old and younger is never an easy task but this image turned out great!! Lisa wrote, "Oh well...at least I will have proof that they actually wore these shoes (and I LOVED it) when they graduate in 13+ years!" They may never believe this footwear was in style!!

Kids' Entry Winner: Kate, age 9 from Saint Paul, Minnesota. Kate is an aspiring photographer who impressed us with her talents! She captured this image of her mom's feet on the rocks in the Headwaters of the Mississippi while visiting Lake Itasca for vacation this summer. Love mom's pink toes!!!
